Twilight FANdemonium

Along with the phenomenon that is The Twilight Saga, comes the insanity that is Twilight fandom. But, who, you may ask, are the most bloodthirsty?

The Twilight Moms.

Like their teenage counterparts, these 30-and-over-somethings have made Twilight fandom not only a hobby — but a way of life.

Mothers Maggie Lane and Donna Brawley arrived at the theater at 7 p.m. The women said they are most looking forward to the scenes with Taylor Lautner.

“I am definitely ‘Team Jacob,'” Brawley said, pointing to the picture of the teen-wolf on her shirt.

Self-proclaimed “Twilight Grandmother” Maryjo Medley said she started reading the books about a year ago while visiting a property she owns in Forks [the setting of the books].

Medley said she finds the romance to be sweet, and could not put the books down after picking them up.

Twilight fans Riley Blacketer, Kendall Klein and Tracy Klein wait outside of the theater before the midnight premiere of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse." Tracy Klein said she considers herself a Twilight Mom. "I like the stories," she said. "They are fun."

Not on the Twilight bandwagon yet? Don’t fear! Here are some key phrases and characters to keep you in the know:

Twi-hards: Intense Twilight groupies. Beware of screaming teenage girls looking for sparkly and/or furry boyfriends. They know everything there is to know about the books, the movies and everything else Twilight. Do not come between them and their midnight premiere!

The Volturi: An elite group of really old vampires [see Dakota Fanning] , who try and keep the fact that vampires “exist” a secret. They eliminate vampires who make a show of killing, and they do not like that Bella, a human, knows so much. The Volturi were introduced in the last movie, but you will see much more of them this time around.

Newborns: Newly created vampires. According to author Stephenie Meyer, new vampires are  stronger and faster than other vampires. For this reason, villain Victoria creates an army of newborns to destroy Bella — and the Cullen family.

The wolf pack: Jacob Black’s [the werewolf] Quileute friends who shape shift into wolves. They do not like vampires — especially Edward, but  join forces with the Cullen family in “Eclipse” to protect Bella.

Check back after the movie to read what the fans think!
