The monster trucks have gone, and for the next few days the Tacoma Dome will offer visitors the chance to live their domestic dreams – if those dreams involve homes and/or gardens.
Here are three dreams on display through Sunday at the Tacoma Home & Garden Show:
Dream: The lobby entrance will be transformed into the “perfect outdoor living environment.”
Reality: Perfect, except you’re living in the Tacoma Dome lobby.
Dream: One lucky person will win a new house in the “The Dream Home Sweepstakes.”
Reality: Even if you win, you’d still have to find some way to unload your current house in this economy.
Dream: A “Rustic Romance” garden display provides an outdoor getaway that includes a twig-laden arbor.
Reality: Your rustic romantic rendezvous may be interrupted by a salesman hawking garlic.
If you go:

While the demand may be reduced, home & garden renovations go a long way towards supporting our local tradesfolk. Even smaller-scale jobs than the last decade frequently saw still put food on their tables.
The person responsible for covering this blurb for an annual tradeshow seems to be downright offended it was put on their desk; what ever happened to objective journalism?
