Secretary of State Wyman names 8 members including Pam Toal to charitable-group advisory panel

Secretary of State Kim Wyman said Friday she has named eight new members to the Charitable Advisory Council, which advises her agency on issues related to charitable organizations. Pam Toal, former United Way of ThurstonCounty leader, is among the appointees.

Wyman’s office put out a press release that says:

OLYMPIA…A state council tasked with identifying emerging issues and trends affecting Washington’s charitable organizations has eight new members.

Secretary of State Kim Wyman has appointed the following people to the Charitable Advisory Council: Nola Grier of the United Way of Clallam County, Port Angeles; Alma Navarro of The Nonprofit Coalition, Yakima;

Report: State workers raised $5.3M for charity through Combined Fund Drive in 2012

Donations aren’t as high as before the recession, but Washington state government employees kept up their donations to charity through a second year of pay cuts in 2012.

Givers to the state-run Combined Fund Drive donated about $5.3 million to more than 3,800 local, state and global charities through automatic pay deductions, according to the Office of the Secretary of State.

The fundraising included special events of short duration. Two singled out by Zylstra: one that drew some $28,000
