Reign’s Megan Rapinoe voted NWSL player of week

NWSLThis just in from the National Women’s Soccer League:

Seattle Reign FC midfielder Megan Rapinoe was voted the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the media for Week 16 of the 2013 NWSL season.

Rapinoe, 28, scored two goals and had an assist for the Reign in a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Red Stars on Thursday, July 25 at Moda Health Pitch in Tukwila, Wash.

Meet Hope Solo – Tuesday at Boys & Girls Club

Tukwila, Wash – Hope Solo will appear at the Henry T. Schatz Boys & Girls Club to meet staff, kids, fans, and present a $5,000 check to the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound. The National Team goalkeeper will be at the “Hope Center” on Tuesday, December 18th, from 3:00-4:30pm.

Sounders Women Sign 4 More - The Sounders Women have officially signed four more players for the 2012 W-League campaign. The Sounders add three college graduates and a local high school standout, who is headed to the University of Washington in the fall. The signees are Sophie Reiser (Columbia U.), Victoria Frederick (Alabama), Kara Kuttler (Seattle U.), and Isabel Farrell (to U.W.).

Sounders Women sign WPS Rookie of the Year nominee Keelin Winters – The Sounders have added Keelin Winters to the 2012 roster. Winters, the 5th Sounders’ signing with US National Team experience, starred for the Boston Breakers of WPS last season, and was called up to the U-23 National Team this year.

Sounders Women and Huskies Share Result

Seattle Sounders Women 1 – 1 University of Washington Huskies

Starfire Sports – Tukwila WA – In the final exhibition match for the Sounders Women, the University of Washington and the Sounders shared a 1-1 scoreline. The match pitted former Huskies against the team they helped lead to the Elite 8 in this year’s NCAA Tournament. Jane Mitchell and McKenna Waitley suited up for the Sounders Women in order to compete against the familiar purple and gold that they dawned for the last 4 years.

Sounders Women Take on the Huskies, Thursday

Women’s soccer fans can spend Cinco de Mayo at the Starfire Stadium at 7 p.m. watching the UW team face the Seattle Sounders Women.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students in any grade through college with valid ID, and $5 for children 12-under.

Former Huskies such as Jane Mitchell and McKenna Waitley will be playing for the Sounders, who are playing their final exhibition match before the regular season begins on May 14 in Victoria, BC. Current Huskies can join the team in May. Former

Katie Warner (defender), Leighton O’brien (head coach), & Jon Billings (General Manager) appear on TV

The Sounders Women were featured on Tacoma 12 – public TV for Pierce County and streaming live online on Thursday morning. The Sounders Women were asked to appear on Citiline, a channel 12 show highlighting local community events and organizations. The show was about local sports, as the Tacoma Rainiers and Sounders Women were both featured.
