Sounders U-23 Home Opener – Sunday (PREVIEW)

SUMNER, Wash. –The Sounders U-23 will return to Sunset Stadium in Sumner this Sunday for their home opener of the 2014 Premier Development League season. They will take on the Puget Sound Gunners FC at 2:00 p.m. in search of three points.

TACOMA, Wash. – 2012 Sounders FC U-23 star, DeAndre Yedlin, followed an All-Star rookie season in MLS with a call up today to the United States National Team. Yedlin will participate in the team’s January camp from January 6 to February 1.

Stephanie Cox joins UPS coaching staff

Tukwila, WA – While the Sounders Women’s season has come to an end, new opportunities have arose for defender, Stephanie Cox, as she will join the University of Puget Sound coaching staff as an assistant coach for the women’s team. Sounders Women sign USA star Megan Rapinoe – Sounders Women announced today the signing of World Cup star, Megan Rapinoe for the 2012 season.

The University of Portland product has played 47 matches and scored 12 goals for Team U.S.A.   Rapinoe is best known for her success in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. During the quarterfinal match against Brazil, Rapinoe came on as a sub and lofted a cross into the box for Abby Wambach’s game-tying, extra-time header. Megan would later convert her shot during the penalty shootout to help send the United States to the semifinals in a miraculous fashion.

Sounders Women sign WPS Rookie of the Year nominee Keelin Winters – The Sounders have added Keelin Winters to the 2012 roster. Winters, the 5th Sounders’ signing with US National Team experience, starred for the Boston Breakers of WPS last season, and was called up to the U-23 National Team this year.
