Tide go for first win over Portland Wednesday

The Portland Timbers U23s came into the PDL the year after the Tide won the 2008 Northwest Division crown. Since that 2009 season the clubs have met five times and Tacoma has yet to taste a victory. After four straight one-goal heartbreakers against the U23s, Tacoma fell again this year on May 29th 2:0 down in Oregon. Wednesday night June 8th at Stadium Bowl the Yellows will try again for a breakthough result. Tickets, $10, $8 & $5 will be available at the gate. Tide sticking with traditional yellow kits for 2011

Tacoma club also announces drive to recruit sponsors, pre-season match schedule

Tacoma WA — Tacoma Tide FC have selected adidas as their uniform maker for the 2011 USL Premier Development League season. Tacoma will wear the adidas Tiro II in their traditional home “Yellow,” with an alternate / away “Royal” (blue).

The kits will be supplied from a new Tide FC partner, Soccer City. Soccer City will soon have Tide jerseys and other gear available from their website store

Here are a few bytes of recent Tacoma Tide news as the soccer club prepares for the 2011 PDL season at Stadium Bowl

  • Open Tryouts are this Saturday and Sunday at Stadium Bowl at 10 AM. Drop on by.

Tide Lose Battle to Timbers

– A defensive miscue just before the half and a late second-half header from the doorstep that found the back of the Tacoma net were the nails that closed the coffin on the Tide FC Wednesday, blowing an early 1:0 lead, to lose to the visiting Portland Timbers U23 2:1.

“We got caught,” said Tide FC head coach Gerry Gray.

After a Daniel Gray scoring strike off a penalty kick in the 36th minute to give Tacoma a 1:0 lead, Portland (10-0-0) responded in the 44th.

Tide FC Inch Closer to Playoff Berth with Win Over Victoria
