Sounders U-23’s Peay and Stevenson Drafted in MLS SuperDraft

Tacoma, Wash. – With two Sounders U-23 stars already signed to the Sounders FC as homegrown players last week, two more Sounders U-23 alumni were drafted today in the MLS SuperDraft. 2012 Sounders U-23 defender, Taylor Peay was picked with the 26th overall selection to the Portland Timbers. Eight selections later, last summer’s U-23 midfielder, Eric Stevenson, was drafted by the New York RedBulls.

The Premier League Development was well represented at this year’s draft, with Peay and Stevenson among the 25 PDL alumni selected in the top 38 picks.

RSL’s Saborio voted MLS player of the week

This just in from the league:

Real Salt Lake forward Alvaro Saborio was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for week 22 of the 2013 MLS season.

Despite a 4-3 loss to the New York Red Bulls, Saborio shined for Salt Lake scoring a hat trick and nearly solidifying a comeback from a 2-0 deficit at Red Bulls Arena.

Sounders U-23 Fernando Monge Drafted to MLS

Tacoma, WA – Sounders U-23 alum, Fernando Monge was drafted today to Major League Soccer by the Montreal Impact at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Monge was drafted with the 18th selection of the MLS SuperDraft 1st Round.

Game crucial to Fire, of interest to Sounders
