Here are a few bytes of recent Tacoma Tide news as the soccer club prepares for the 2011 PDL season at Stadium Bowl

  • Open Tryouts are this Saturday and Sunday at Stadium Bowl at 10 AM. Drop on by.
  • The Tide have added two pre-season matches in April. More details to come, but the matches are April 16 against Gonzaga at Stadium Bowl (free admission) and April 17 against St. Martin’s in Lacey. Kickoff times to follow.

Tacoma Tide FC go high tech with 2011 Stadium Bowl ticket options

Tacoma Tide FC today announce a partnership with www.BrownPaperTickets.com that will allow Tacoma soccer fans several high tech options to purchase and use 2011 tickets to Premier Development League matches at Stadium Bowl in Tacoma’s historic Stadium District. The Tide home opener arrives on Friday, May 13th against Everett’s North Sound SeaWolves.

Tide reschedule Stadium Bowl debut to May 13 to avoid conflict with Sounders

The PDL clubs in the Puget Sound area did a nice job of staying clear of Seattle Sounders FC home match conflicts in 2010. When the 2011 MLS and PDL schedules came out there were a few days where PDL sides were going head-to-head with home matches at Qwest Field.

Tacoma Tide FC are excited about their move to Stadium Bowl in 2011. It will be the first time in six years that the Tide will play in Tacoma proper. So imagine their feelings when it was revealed that their 2011 home opener at the 100+ year old historic venue

Tide Lose Battle to Timbers

– A defensive miscue just before the half and a late second-half header from the doorstep that found the back of the Tacoma net were the nails that closed the coffin on the Tide FC Wednesday, blowing an early 1:0 lead, to lose to the visiting Portland Timbers U23 2:1.

“We got caught,” said Tide FC head coach Gerry Gray.

After a Daniel Gray scoring strike off a penalty kick in the 36th minute to give Tacoma a 1:0 lead, Portland (10-0-0) responded in the 44th.

Tide Return Home from Portland Without Points

Tacoma Tide 0 – 1 Portland Timbers

May 18 – Portland, OR - The Tacoma Tide FC fought through travel, pounding rain, and an unorthodox start time to within grasp of a road point in Portland, but were unable to seize the moment. Due to a kids’ day at PGE Park, the Tide vs Timbers U-23 match was moved to 11am. This made for an early morning of travel and preparation down I-5. It would all have been worth it if points were brought home, but the Tide fell short.

Sounders Women Begin 2010 Campaign with a Victory

Sounders 2 – 1 Seattle Pacific University

It was excellent. I was impressed how well we looked with such a short preseason so far,” Head Coach, Leighton O’Brien said of his team after the Sounders Women defeated the Seattle Pacific Falcons by a score of 2-1 at Interbay Stadium Wednesday night.
