12 MLS teams to show new jerseys: Sounders on Feb. 27

jerseyweekSounders FC will unveil new primary and secondary jerseys on Feb. 27 at a private event at the Cinerama in downtown Seattle. It will be part of an MLS “Jersey Week” roll out in which a dozen teams will reveal new jerseys.

Home debut for Sounders ‘super cyan’ coming in Champions League match Wednesday

Soudners FC will wear its new “Super Cyan” alternate kids at CenturyLink Field for the first time in Wednesday’s CONCACAF Champions League match.

Timbers pick retro look for white third kit

The Portland Timbers unveiled a third kit today, going with a white retro jersey to join their current primary green and alternate red kits.

I have always hoped that the Sounders would go with a white retro alternate of their own. And I’m told it was considered and rejected when the club went first with the electricity and now the cyan.

Sounders reveal third kit … called “super cyan”

This just in from the club:

The Seattle Sounders FC revealed the new third kit for the 2012 season featuring a color spectrum in the blue/green family named “super cyan” and trimmed in electricity. The signature rave green jersey will continue to serve as the Sounders FC primary kit.

“Super cyan is an evolution of the Sounders FC distinct color palette,” said Sounders FC owner Joe Roth. “The super cyan kit with the electricity trim definitely sets the Sounders apart. As always, we’re proud to feature Xbox on this and all of our Sounders FC kits.”

Electricity kits going; something as divisive coming

Sounders FC will wear its “electricity” yellow kit for what is expected to the final time Tuesday, when the club concludes CONCACAF Champions League group play with a visit from Monterrey.

But for those who say “good riddance” to the eye-searingly bright uniforms comes a word of warning that the club already has settled on a new alternate kit for next season. And while they’re not ready to be unveiled, general manager Adrian Hanauer implied they could be every bit as controversial as the ones they’re replacing.

“What I can say is that just like the electricity, it will be divisive,” Hanauer said. “Some people will love it. Some people will hate it. It is not going to be gray. Other than that, people have to wait until it leaks.”

The Sounders haven’t decided when they will unveil the new uniforms.
