Ljungberg sits as precaution, Riley uncertain

Freddie Ljungberg and James Riley took it easy at Sounders practice this morning.

Coach Sigi Schmid said Ljungberg was just given a break due to general soreness. Schmid also implied that he was also just being cautious with Riley, who tweaked his right ankle in training on Tuesday.

However, Riley himself seemed uncertain if he will be able to go Saturday when the Sounders kick off at Kansas City.

USA striker Charlie Davies in serious accident

Charlie Davies, a striker for the United States national soccer team, was injured in a one-car accident early Tuesday in suburban Washington, D.C., in which another person was killed, a U.S. Soccer Federation spokesman said.

Davies was in surgery Tuesday afternoon at Washington Hospital Center and in stable condition, U.S. Soccer said in a statement. The extent of his injuries were unknown, but U.S. Soccer spokesman Neil Buethe said they were not life-threatening.
