Hanauer happy with 55,000 for Chelsea, says policy of one major friendly per season will be reviewed

Sounders general manager Adrian Hanauer indicated no disappointment at the expected crowd of about 55,000 for tomorrow’ friendly against Chelsea.

The Sounders drew 65,372 for Chelsea’s visit in 2009. They drew 67.052 for Manchester United last season.

Sounders on Fernandez, Chelsea, future friendlies, Levesque, All Stars, health and more

The Sounders have wrapped up training for their friendly tomorrow with Chelsea FC.

I’ll have more later, but here are some takeaways:

Adrian Hanauer and Sigi Schmid both dismissed the Alvaro Fernandez transfer rumors as, well, rumors … without quite saying it won’t happen.

Schmid implied Steve Zakuani could get some playing time against Chelsea tomorrow, but seems less certain about Michael Gspurning.

Everyone was grateful for the on- and off-pitch contributions of Roger Levesque, who will retire after tomorrow’s friendly.
