Sounders U-23’s Anthony Arena signed by Houston

TACOMA, WA. – Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo has officially signed Anthony Arena to a professional contract. Arena becomes the 2nd Sounders U-23 player from 2012 to be signed to a MLS contract.

“I’m really excited to finally make it to the MLS,” Anthony Arena said. “It’s been a dream of mine for quite a while now and I feel like a lot of hard work has paid off. I still have a lot of work left ahead of me though.”

Sounders U-23, Anthony Arena, picked 18th in draft

Tacoma, WA – Sounders U-23 alum, Anthony Arena was drafted today to Major League Soccer in the Supplemental Draft by the Houston Dynamo. Arena was drafted with the 18th selection of the MLS Supplemental Draft 1st Round.

An instrumental defender for the Sounders FC U-23, Anthony Arena helped the team secure the Western Conference Championship. Arena anchored a back line toward the Sounders U-23 run to the national semi-finals, losing to eventual national champions; FC London. Sounders U23 Sign Three Standouts – The Sounders U23 continue to construct their roster for the 2012 PDL Season with the signing of Aodhan Quinn from the University of Akron, Anthony Arena from Wake Forest University, and local talent from Puyallup; Mark Lee.

The three signings add elite level talent to the Sounders U23. Quinn and Arena are integral parts of national soccer powerhouses; Akron and Wake Forest. Mark Lee comes to the Sounders U23 after a PDL National Championship with the Kitsap Pumas and discussions with various MLS clubs.
