CLUBtijuanaHere’s our preview story. And below, some basics:

HEAD TO HEAD: First meeting.
NOTES: Club Tijuana leads Mexico’s Liga MX with a 7-2-2 record, while the Sounders are 1-1 in Major League Soccer. In their most recent outings, Tijuana lost at Cruz Azul, 2-1, on Saturday; while the Sounders fell at home to San Jose, 3-2, on March 14. … Because of league games and international call ins, both clubs are expect to field lineups mixing regulars and reserves. … Club Tijuana – also known as Xolos – was founded in 2007 and joined Mexico’s first division in 2011. They advanced to the CONCACAF Champions League semifinal in 2014. Their home pitch is one of the few in Mexico with artificial surface. The club is located 25 miles south of San Diego and has seven USA internationals on its roster. … CenturyLink Field’s standard MLS seating configuration will be used. The Sounders said a dwindling number of tickets remained available Monday afternoon. This friendly is part of the season-ticket package. … An academy match between the two clubs will precede the main match, starting at 4:30 p.m. Fans interested in attending that match can enter at the northwest gate at 4 p.m. Other gates open at 5:30. The March to the Match begins at 5:30 at Occidental Park.
QUOTE: “Their central midfielder (Javier Guemez) was called in for the Mexican national team. (Defender Greg) Garza was called in to the U.S. national team, so they’re missing some guys that way. A couple of guys got called in to the youth team, so those guys will be missing as well. So it will be a mix, but there will be first-team guys out there for sure.” – Seattle coach Sigi Schmid on the expected Tijuana lineup.

NEXT: The Sounders return to MLS play at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at FC Dallas.
