Here’s what Sounders coach Sigi Schmid had to say today about the apparent transfer of right back DeAndre Yedlin to Tottenham Hotspur:

The understanding is that DeAndre will be with us through the end of the season, which is a good thing. It keeps our team intact. And I think for him the opportunity to go to a club like that is fantastic. It’s just a matter of it at the end of the day being the best situation for him, and staying here a little while longer I think just helps prepare him for that opportunity

On whether Yedlin will be back in time for the Houston game on Sunday and whether he would be up to playing after the transatlantic travel: We have to see where the conclusion of the medical is, as well – whether that’s concluded and done or not. Those are things that we’ll find out tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Schmid also had these health updates:

“Chad (Marshall) has gotten through everything through the end of this week, so we’ve stepped him up each day, and he’s had no setbacks, so that’s good. And Djimi (Traore) has had a full week of training as well, so both of them are good as far as we’ll concerned … Lamar (Neagle) also.”

On planning three games in seven days: We’ve got to look at it from game to game. The most important game is the next game. We have a little bit of an eye toward the other two games. We have lineups in the back of our minds for each of those two games, but those are a subject-to-change kind of thing. So now we’re getting ready for this game with Houston; and after we get through with that game we’ll put our attention to Chicago and decide how that lineup is going to look.

More on second game (U.S. Open Cup vs. Chicago on Wednesday at Starfire) and third games (Saturday at conference rival RSL): Wednesday is a must-win, but the different with Wednesday is this also: Chicago plays on Sunday, we play on Sunday, so we’re both going into the Wednesday game sort of equal in terms of rest and recovery and so forth, and they have to travel. When you look at the following game – Saturday at RSL – that becomes a different story because they’ve sat around for a week, so that’s one that you sort of ‘OK, what makes sense for this one; what do we put together … that we think gives us the best chance to get a result.

On more options will fuller roster: It helps to obviously have Marshall back into the fold, it helps to have Djimi Traore back. It helps to have Rose back into the picture as well. Leo right now is in there. That helps us. Those are all guys that really weren’t available in that period of time when the guys were gone with the national team.
