Clint Dempsey, Brad Evans and DeAndre Yedlin all were called to the U.S. national team’s pre-World Cup camp. No other MLS team contributed more than two players.

The three will be missing Saturday, when the Sounders return to MLS play with a home match against San Jose. Those making the World Cup roster would miss at least four MLS matches.

“Obviously it’s going to be a big (hole) to fill in terms of your starting 11,” Dempsey said today. “But there’s a lot of depth with the Sounders. I’m sure that they will be able to do fine if us three are absent. It’s about getting back on the right track after a poor performance.”

Here’s the release from U.S.Soccer, and below is the list:

U.S. ROSTER BY POSITION
GOALKEEPERS (3) : Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)
DEFENDERS (11) : DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Timmy Chandler (Nürnberg), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders FC), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Clarence Goodson (San Jose Earthquakes), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim), Michael Parkhurst (Columbus Crew), DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders FC)

Below is the news release from the Sounders:

Seattle Sounders FC forward Clint Dempsey, midfielder Brad Evans and defender DeAndre Yedlin have been called into the U.S. Men’s National Team camp to train in Palo Alto, California prior to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The 30-man camp begins on May 14 at Stanford University. From this list, 23 players must be chosen by June 2 for the final roster that will travel to Brazil.

Captain of the national team, Dempsey has 103 caps (T-10th) and ranks second all-time with 36 goals. He currently leads MLS with eight goals in nine appearances, and has played a full 90 minutes in both appearances for the USMNT in 2014.

Evans has 17 caps and one goal for the national team. He participated in the team’s January camp and played 73 minutes in the 2-0 win against Korea on February 1. Evans has started at right back in eight of the last nine games for which he was available, including five World Cup Qualifiers.

Yedlin, 20, participated in the team’s January camp and has earned his first two caps this year in friendlies against Korea and Mexico, playing 36 minutes total as a second-half substitute in both fixtures. Yedlin also participated in the 2013 U.S. U-20 World Cup and started all three matches of the tournament.

The players will begin reporting to Palo Alto on May 14 for the start of training camp.
