The Sounders have concluded training at Jeld-Wen Field, where tomorrow they will resolve their loser-out series with the Timbers.

Here’s some of what coach Sigi Schmid had to say afterward:

On why they trained in Portland: We just wanted to change it up a little bit, come down. It’s also been a little while since we played here at night… just have a feel for the lights, as well. Just a little change of rhythm.

On the keys to their needed result: We have to play well. Portland’s a good team. So we need to make sure that we play well, don’t give up anything silly. Obviously playing to a clean sheet is important, and we’ve got to do a better job of finishing our chances when we create them, and making better use of our corners and set pieces.

Health update on Obafemi Martins and others: We’ll see. We’ll see tomorrow how Oba came through tonight. He was able to do everything tonight; he was able to do more than yesterday, so that’s a good sign. … Zack (Scott) will be OK. DeAndre (Yedlin) is fine as well. Leo (Gonzalez), don’t know with Leo at this stage.

On if there is benefit to already having survived a loser-out match against Colorado: All that matters is what you do tomorrow. If doesn’t matter what you did in the past. People talk about experience and all that stuff, and yeah, it’s important to have those experiences – there are things that serve you well in the memory bank. But at the end of the day, all that matters is what you do on that given day.
