The Sounders seemed happy with their effort tonight, but they expressed their disappointment in sending their fans home with a 1-0 loss to Portland and no Cascadia Cup.

* “We’re disappointed for our fans that we weren’t able to bring that home,” coach Sigi Schmid said. “We didn’t lose the Cascadia Cup tonight, we lost the Cascadia Cup on Wednesday (in a 4-1 home loss to the Whitecaps).”

* “We had a lot of fans who came down here, and we disappointed ourselves,” goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann said. “Everyone’s super-gutted with the result, but Sigi commented on our work rate, which we obviously put in to the very end.”
