The Sounders are reporting on their website that Seattle forwards Clint Dempsey and Eddie Johnson joined the United States national team in Miami on Sunday, while Brad Evans remained with Sounders FC after suffering a calf injury in the 1-0 win Saturday at Columbus.

All three had been called in to the national team for their World Cup qualifying matches against Costa Rica and Mexico. Those games are expected to keep them out of the Sounders’ two MLS home matches this week – Wednesday against Chivas USA and Saturday against the Chicago Fire – and perhaps the home match next week against Western Conference leader Real Salt Lake.

There was no further word on Evans’ condition.

U.S. Soccer announced that he will be replaced on the roster by Michael Parkhurst.
