HEAD TO HEAD: Seattle leads 3-2-2 in regular season play, but hasn’t won in Houston (0-2-1). This is the only scheduled meeting this season.
NOTES: Seattle has won three straight games, the longest current streak in Major League Soccer. The Dynamo had a four-game unbeaten string (3-0-1) snapped last week at Real Salt Lake. … Native Texan Clint Dempsey is expected to make his first start for Seattle. … Goalkeepers Michael Gspurning and Marcus Hahnemann are both available. Coach Sigi Schmid would not reveal his starter. … This marks the Sounders first visit to BBVA Compass Stadium, which opened last season. The game is sold out. … The predicted temperature at game time is 86 degrees. … Seattle has a five-game unbeaten streak (3-0-2) against Eastern Conference teams. … Seattle is 10-1-4 over its last 15 August matches. … The Dynamo defense – backed by goalkeeper Tally Hall of Gig Harbor — has allowed an average of one goal per game, second best in MLS. … Sounders forward Eddie Johnson is serving a one-game suspension for yellow-card accumulation. Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and Djimi Traore are one card from suspension. … The referee is Baldomero Toledo.
QUOTABLE: “They’re a team that’s used to playing in this, and we’re a team that doesn’t normally play in this. But it’s better to play at 8 o’ clock than to play at 3 in the afternoon.” – Schmid on playing in the Texas heat.
