Here’s a game report from the club:

Seattle Reign FC scored the game’s first goal, but was unable to hold the lead as they tied the Boston Breakers 1 – 1 on Wednesday, July 3 at the Moda Health Pitch at Starfire Stadium.

Seattle’s goal came in the 53rd minute after a scoreless first half. Forward Jessica McDonald, making her debut for Seattle Reign FC after being claimed off waivers from Chicago, received a cross off of the left foot of forward Christine Nairn that bent through the Boston backline. McDonald settled the ball and put it past a diving Alyssa Naeher to net her first goal of the season, and the only goal of the game for Seattle. The assist was Nairn’s fourth of the season.

Boston was able to equalize nine minutes later, after forward Sydney Leroux finished a ball that was cutback across the goal by midfielder Heather O’Reilly. The initial pass from O’Reilly was deflected off Reign FC defender Kaylyn Kyle, which bounced to Leroux as she finished the game-tying goal in the 62nd minute.

Though Seattle gave up the goal, both the backline and goalkeeper Hope Solo showed a player of the week performance, highlighted by Solo’s eight saves.

Reign FC almost took the lead multiple times in the final 20 minutes of the game as recently acquired forward Renae Cuéllar made her debut in the 65th minute.

Cuéllar instantly made her presence known, as less than a minute after she came on she received a through ball from midfielder Jess Fishlock and tried to slot a finish past Boston’s Naeher. Naeher came up with a big save to keep the game tied, one of her five of the night.

Fishlock and Kaylyn Kyle received their fourth yellow cards of the season in the first half. Each player’s next yellow card will result in a one-game suspension.

Reign FC will continue their home stretch next week when they face the Abby Wambach and the Western New York Flash on Thursday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at the Moda Health Pitch at Starfire Stadium.

Prices for single match tickets are $26 for Grandstand Premium seating, $22 for Grandstand seating and $19 for Bleacher seating. Tickets can be purchased online at www.reignfc.com.
