Sounders coach Sigi Schmid gave this update in personnel expected (and not expected) back for Wednesday’s match at Kansas City:

“(Osvaldo) Alonso and his wife, they had their baby daughter, so we congratulate the family. So Ozzie should be available to us on Wednesday night, so that helps us going into it. Marc Burch is out here as well with us, so we’ll see if we think he’s ready to go or not. Those are the two main guys right now.”

There was no mention of Obafemi Martins, Shalrie Joseph or Patrick Ianni, but we followed up specifically on Martins:

“Probably not at this stage,” Schmid said. “We want to get Martins where when he returns he’s able to return and stay. We don’t want to push him out there for a game and then lose him again for two or three, and then push him out there for a game and then lose him for two or three. I want to get him out there and keep him out there.”

Feeling like we might have invested in some damaged goods with Martins. I really hoped to see him in KC and I worry about our ability to win there without him. I see no better than a draw at this point.

And there’s always the possibility the MLS disciplinary Committee comes down on EJ for his foul with the knee that wasn’t called. KC is a long way to go to see Ochoa starting at forward.
