The Sounders are off the training pitch for another day.

Even though this is the eve of the CONCACAF Champions League semifinal, the brutal MLS start and Saturday loss at RSL is clearly still hanging over the club. I’ll have more on that later.

For now, these updates:

* David Estrada is seeing an eye specialist. Patrick Ianni certainly remains out for the near term, and coach Sigi Schmid said he isn’t certainl Ianni will return this month. No word on whether Eddie Johnson and/or Obafemi Martins will be available for Santos tomorrow.

* Midfielder Mario Martinez returned to training after time away with the Honduras national team.

* We also got some time with Marcus Hahnemann who will start in goal tomorrow, due to the yellow-card suspension of Michael Gspurning. I’ll have some direct quotes later, but as you might expect, Hahnemann seemed loose and excited to start a meaningful game.

Very little good news in all that mess. Knew Ianni would be out for a long time. He’s a notoriously slow healer. Means we have crappy depth at CB. Thank God for a week lag between games after tomorrow so guys can heal and spend some time practicing together.

Despite the lousy start and nightmare game on Saturday, a 2-0 win tomorrow would ease a lot of pain. Easier said then done but that’s probably the minimum it will take to have a chance in 2nd leg.
