Schmid still likes spirit — and some play — at SJ

Sometimes coach Sigi Schmid’s opinion of a game changes after he’s had a chance to watch it a few times.

This morning, Schmid was asked what he thought of the 1-0 loss at San Jose after watching the video:

“We gave up some chances for sure,” he said. “But like I said after the game, I thought our spirit of the game was much better, I thought our pressure was better. I thought we possessed the ball much better than we had been. I thought we had the ball more of the game, and I thought we put ourselves into dangerous situations. But we were like a butter knife trying to cut bread, so we weren’t quite sharp enough when we needed to be at the key moments. That’s something that we’ll work on this week. But overall, I thought playing-wise our overall play was pretty good.”
