This just in from the club:

Seattle Sounders FC has waived forward Babayele Sodade, the team announced today.

The second-year forward was the club’s second-round (34th overall) selection in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. Sodade did not make an appearance for Sounders FC after spending the 2012 season on the disabled list due to a torn ACL suffered while playing for Canada in an Olympic Qualifier.

I remember the first time I saw Sodade play — in an early training game last season — he nailed an amazing goal. It was easy to imagine good things ahead. But injuries blocked his progress here, and with the Canadian national team.

Like so many Sounders, he seemed like a really good guy; and I sure wish him the best.
