Here’s some of what Sounders keeper Michael Gspurning had to say after the scoreless draw with Veracruz tonight:

On his leaping/diving saves in the second half: It was for me a really easy preseason in the (previous) games, so it was good that I was tested today a little bit. I’m ready for the season next week. So is the team. We shouldn’t look just about the result today, but we saw that our soccer is good, and it’s time that the season starts.”

On rookie defender DeAndre Yedlin: I’m very proud of our young guys because they have talent, and more important they have character and you see that they want to take every day the best day out of the day. DeAndre made a very good game on the side. He feels comfortable, he fits good on the team, and it’s always good for a young player if he gets the chance to show what he can have.

On if the club is ready for the season: I’m ready for the season. For me, the preseason is too long. We experienced players, we want to have a short preseason and then let’s go and play for something. But I think we are ready. But we should have in our mind that we have a very tough schedule. The season-opener will be very important that we win – also for the fans. There’s just one week to go.
