LogoSoundersIn the wake of the interview with coach Sigi Schmid this afternoon, the club also has released these notes and updated roster:

Following Wednesday’s match, Sounders FC quickly got back to the training field with a 10 a.m. session on Thursday morning. The starters and players who played significant minutes on Wednesday did a regen session consisting of a light jog and weight training. The rest of the group went through a full training session, focusing mainly on possession. After a warm-up, the group split into three teams of five for a competitive possession game that forced each group to complete a series of passes against defensive pressure. They then moved into a full-field 8v8 game with restrictions placed on the attacking team to force them to time their runs and on the defensive team to force them to keep a high line. The group finished with the goals in tight and a series of short games.

Seattle’s top selection in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft, forward Will Bates, participated in warm-ups with the team before completing a series of exercises with the trainers. Midfielder Mario Martinez is expected to arrive in Tucson on Thursday evening and participate in Friday’s training. Defender Mikael Silvestre is no longer training with the team.

Defender Marc Burch will be unavailable for Saturday’s match due to red card suspension. The guidelines for preseason exhibition games state that any player who is sent off either through a straight red card or two yellow cards may not be replaced and must serve a one-game suspension. As a reminder, substitutions are unlimited but there is no re-entry, and games must be played in equally timed halves as agreed upon in advance by both clubs.

Sounders FC will train once on Friday afternoon. The next match of the Desert Diamond Cup is on Saturday at 3 p.m. PT against Real Salt Lake. The match will be streamed live on MLSsoccer.com and SoundersFC.com.
