Welsh captain Jess Fishlock, Canadian international Tiffany Cameron, former University of Washington standout Kate Deines and two-time Stanford All-American Lindsay Taylor have signed with the Seattle Reign FC, it was announced today.
An attacking midfielder, Fishlock, 26, was the Wales Player of the Year in both 2011 and 2012 and has scored 21 goals in 66 appearances for the Welsh national team. She was an English Women’s Premier League all -star last season for Bristol Academy where she is the career scoring leader. In 2009 and 2010 Fishlock inspired AZ Alkmaar to successive Eredivisie titles in the Netherlands.
Cameron, 22, earned her first three caps for Canada last month in China. Able to play both wide and up front, she broke Ohio State records for season and career goals in 2012, finishing with 21 and 40, respectively, and making second -team All -American.
Deines, 23 and a native of Issaquah, Wash., is a past member of the U.S. U -23 national team and all -Pac – 10/12 selection. She was a starting center back for the Sounders Women in 2012 and later helped Stjarnan FC win its first Icelandic domestic cup championship.
Taylor, 23, was also a member of the U.S. U -23s and the sixth player chosen in the 2012 WPS college draft. A forward, she scored 20 goals as a senior to earn 2011 Pac -12 Player of the Year and first -team All -America honors while helping Stanford win the NCAA championship.
Fishlock, Cameron, Deines and Taylor are the newest members of Reign FC. Earlier, U.S. National Team stars Hope Solo and Megan Rapinoe were among seven international players assigned to Seattle in the allocation process. Four more players were taken in the National Women’s Soccer League college draft.
