On pitch, Sounders switch to speed testing; off-pitch looks like no ’13 Community Shield game

It’s a different kind of day for the Sounders, as the team switched to speed testing today at the Seahawks indoor training facility in Renton. Afterward, the newcomers shifted over to Starfire in Tukwila for soccer scrimmaging.

Also some minor news off the pitch, as the Sounders say they will skip a Community Shield home game this year. They say the preseason just got too full, between the tournament in Tucson and a hoped-for game there against a Mexican team as preparation for CCL.

Also, no club comment on those new-kit photos that have been making the rounds online. The Sounders will have new kits for 2013 — as they do every two seasons. But the official MLS unveiling is still about a month away.

Finally, we’re expected to get a list of the top finishers in today’s timed dashes. I’ll be back with that as soon as I receive word.
