After picking up two players in the SuperDraft, the Sounders have five more picks Tuesday morning in MLS’ Supplemental Draft.
I asked sporting director Chris Henderson if there are still any potentially useful players who weren’t scooped up last week.
“We still have our list that we went through the SuperDraft, so we’re kind of going to go off that list,” he said. “It might be positional, but if go in order of who is left on our list, there is one or two guys that we hope could make the roster.”
It should be remembered that a productive Sounders 2012 rookie — Andy Rose — was a Supplemental selection (by Salt Lake). And that goalkeeper Josh Ford came in the 2011 Supplemental Draft, outlasting keeper Bryan Meredith who was taken in the 2011 SuperDraft. So it can happen. With good scouting and good luck.
“You never know,” Henderson said. “They get in our system, they develop at different rates. You hope one of these kids comes through and you get a steal.”
The draft begins at 11 a.m.
