This news just announced from the SeattleReignFC:

Seattle Reign FC today announced that Laura Harvey will join the club as its first Head Coach. Laura joins Seattle Reign FC from the Arsenal Ladies, where as Head Coach she led the club to six trophies, including three consecutive league titles and the FA WSL Coach of the Year Award in 2011. In addition, Laura previously worked as an Assistant Coach for the England Women’s National Team at the U17, U19 and U23 levels.

“As a proven winner with the ability to bring the best out of each player, Laura is the type of coach that a player wants to play for,” said Amy Carnell, GM of Seattle Reign FC. “Having managed some of the world’s best at Arsenal and within the English National Team system, she is composed under pressure and clearly understands what it takes to bring home a championship.”

“I’m excited for the new challenge ahead. After conversations with the General Manger and the Owner, the ambitions of the club were something that interested me in making the move,” commented new Reign FC Head Coach Laura Harvey. “As a club we will be trying to establish ourselves as a leader within the new league, whilst trying to build a long term future for Seattle Reign FC. The future is an exciting one for everyone involved at Seattle Reign FC.”

Some of the world’s best? Never made it past the World Cup quarterfinals. Coaches here in the U.S. have had more success- but then, maybe coaches here know what a screw-up the USSoccer backed women’s professional teams have been. I’d have been more impressed with a coach out of Brazil or Japan- where there ARE some of the world’s best.
