Schmid indicates wild-card weather would be OK

It’s kind of a drizzly, cool, dreary morning, but the heavier rain and nastier weather that had been predicted hasn’t arrived — yet, at least.

And it sounded a bit like coach Sigi Schmid wouldn’t mind adding the wild card of weather into the mix for the Sounders’ distinct needs of the night.

“If it’s raining and the field is a little bit slick and shots are sliding off the turf a little bit,” he said yesterday. “It never really gets sloppy on turf — like on a grass field it could get sloppy — but we’ll take anything. If the weather’s good, it’s good for us; if the weather’s bad, it’s good for us. We’re a team that needs to take advantage of the circumstances that are there. If it is a wet day, then we’ve got to get some shots … some drives from outside, we’ve got to keep things low and use the field to our advantage.”
