Updates: Houston 2, Kansas City 0.

San Jose 1, Los Angeles 0.

Preview: A quick reminder that there are two potentially terrific MLS playoff games today — both televised on relatively simple-to-get channels.

At 12:30 p.m. on NBC, Eastern Conference champion Sporting Kansas City visits the Houston Dynamo, a No. 5 seed that looks fully capable of making a run.

Then comes the biggie at 6 p.m. on ESPN with Supporters Shield winner San Jose visits defending champion Los Angeles. (The assigned referee is Ricardo Salazar.) The winner of this series will play for the Western Conference championship against the Sounders-Real Salt Lake winner.

Some teams just have another teams number. Houston against KC, and seemingly RSL against us. Playoffs are about match ups and RSL is tough one for us. Let’s hope Thursday is different.

I wouldn’t say RSL has our number. We had a bad game at Rio Tinto last year- and a magnificent game at home. This year, one goal scored (when we were without Gspurning) in May, otherwise neither team has scored. Are we pretty even? Yes. Do they have our number? No.
