After a couple of days off, the Sounders have concluded Wednesday training.

The top new involved injuries to defenders. Leo Gonzalez has a hamstring injury that could keep him out 2-4 weeks … meaning potentially through the end of the regular season.

Meanwhile, Jhon Kennedy Hurtado has been diagnosed with a face fraction, apparently near the eye/cheek. No surgery called for, but the club will be careful with him and will check into the possibility of him playing with a protective mask.

Also, the consensus of coaches and Marcus Hahnemann is that he’s made good progress lately, shifting from “training camp” mode and into contention for the 18-man roster. Coach Sigi Schmid said it’s possible that the remaining CONCACAF match against Marathon could make a logical spot for his debut.

Schmid also expressed satisfaction at forward Eddie Johnson’s call in to the US national team. Schmid said Johnson could do his national-team duty while also being back for the MLS match next week against Real Salt Lake. However, Schmid also noted that it’s unlikely that midfielder Mario Martinez or defender Adam Johansson would be back for that game.

I’ll be back with more.
