Real Salt Lake beats the LA Galaxy, 2-1, tonight at the Home Depot Center.

With the win, second-place RSL moves six points ahead of Seattle in the MLS Western Conference. With the loss, LA remains just one point ahead, meaning the Sounders can take an important step up into third place depending on result Sunday against the Timbers.

Seattle also has games in hand on each and will face each head-to-head: RSL at Seattle on Oct. 17, Sounders at LA on Oct. 28.

Pregame: A quick reminder that the big Real Salt Lake at Los Angeles Galaxy match is on NBCSN this evening at 6.

Both clubs are just ahead of the Sounders in the Western Conference standings: RSL three points up, LA one point ahead. However, both are well in range of Seattle, as there are head-to-head battles remaining on the schedule: RSL at Seattle on Oct. 17, Sounders at LA on Oct. 28.

Here’s an MLSsoccer.com preview, which will be updated as the match goes along.
