This just in from the league:

San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski was voted Major League Soccer (MLS) Player of the Month by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for September of the 2012 MLS season. The honor is Wondolowski’s third MLS Player of the Month accolade this season, having also picked up the award in April and June.

Wondolowski is the first player in MLS history to earn three MLS Player of the Month awards in a single season.

Through five MLS matches in September, Wondolowski registered four goals and two assists, including a brace as a substitute in San Jose’s 2-2 draw with the Portland Timbers on September 19.

With 22 goals this season, Wondolowski is currently leading the 2012 Budweiser Golden Boot race.

The MLS Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information and membership information can be found at http://www.soccerreporters.com/.
