Granted, granted, granted, granted: Major League Baseball teams play 81 home games, while Major League Soccer clubs play only 17.

But even at that, only two MLS teams outdraw the MLB team in the same market in per-game attendance: Seattle and Houston.

And the Sounders — whose average of 42,134 will grow on Sunday — don’t merely outdraw the Mariners. They also outdraw iconic baseball teams such as the Giants, Dodgers, Cardinals, Angels, Red Sox, Tigers and Cubs — everyone, in fact, except the Yankees, Phillies and Rangers. And they outdraw half of the American League West – Athletics and Mariners — combined.

Here’s a comparison (attendance figures as of this final day of the Major League season):

Chicago (Cubs) 35,689, (Sox) 24,271 (Sox) (Fire) 16,171
Colorado (Rockies) 32,474 (Rapids) 15,152
Dallas (Rangers) 42,719 (FC) 14,099
Houston (Dynamo) 20,899 (Astros) 19,848
Kansas City (Royals) 21,638 (Sporting) 19,406
Los Angeles (Dodgers) 41,127 (Angels) 37,799 (Galaxy) 22,621 (Chivas) 13,163
New England (Red Sox) 37,567 (Revolution) 13,281
New York (Yankees) 43,687; (Mets), 28,035 (Red Bulls) 17,627,
Philadelphia (Phillies) 44,021 (Union) 18,086
Seattle (Sounders) 42,134 (Mariners) 21,328
Toronto (Blue Jays) 25,998 (FC) 18,480,
Washington (Nationals) 29,919 (DC United) 13,483
