The Galaxy and Rapids played to a 1-1 draw tonight in Colorado.

The result moves LA one point ahead of Seattle in the MLS Western Conference standings, however the Sounders have a game in hand on both the Galaxy and Real Salt Lake (which is three points ahead).

Pregame: Colorado and Los Angeles kick off at 4 p.m. today in a match with importance to the RSL/Galaxy/Sounders three-way race for second, third and fourth playoff seeding in the MLS Western Conference.

The match begins with Seattle and LA exactly even with 49 points in 30 games — two points before No. 2 Salt Lake, but win a game in hand.

This kind of seeding is no small thing this season, as the No. 2 and 3 seeds will meet in a home-and-away aggregate-score series, while the No. 4 and 5 seeds meet in a one-game loser-out game, with the winner advancing to face the No. 1 Western seed.

Here’s a preview of the Colorado-LA match, which will be updated as it moves along.
