Brad Evans got the game-winner tonight in Seattle’s 3-2 win at Marathon. Here’s some of what he had to say afterward:

On advancing to CCL quarterfinals: That was our goal coming down here: We don’t want to leave anything for the last game, leave it to chance. So we go up twice, and we end up 2-2 with 10-14 minutes left. So for us it’s a big confidence booster going into this weekend, especially with the big one coming up for us. This win under our belt will help us along the way I think in the long run. So putting in the effort tonight that the guys put in – we got to rest some guys, and some guys got to stretch their legs a little bit also. These trips are good. Whenever you come away with a victory here, you’ve got the team bonding, we were at the hotel all day long, we were just playing card, and biding your time. So there’s a lot that goes into these trips. More than just the game itself.

On Mario Martinez’s homecoming: It’s going to be an adjustment period for anybody, no matter what their quality is. He’s a high-quality player, he’s going to come in and play a special role for us. So everybody’s got to get used to him. We’ve maybe had two weeks of training with him. So for us it’s going to take time, for him it’s going to take time, but you can see he’s a player that wants to play 1-2 touch, and he’s on the right team if you want to play with the ball on the ground. He’s going to fit in well, and I thought he did well tonight. He’s creative. He’s going to push forward for us and create some dangerous crosses. So credit to him, being in front of the hometown and getting the win.

On his game-winner: You come on and the opportunity was presented. … Guys are sort of scrambling in position and they were a little bit offset. … I found myself with a little bit of space and rise above my defender and put the header away. So, it’s all about finishing our chances. We had a couple of chances we could have come up 3-2, 4-2; and so that’s something we build off of too. So for us, good confidence moving forward, and just a good result.
