The Sounders have concluded training for their 1 p.m. Saturday home match against Chivas USA.
Some notes from coach Sigi Schmid:
* On the availability of midfielders Osvaldo Alonso (head) and Mauro Rosales (quad): “Alonso came through OK. With Mauro we’ll know a little bit further tomorrow, so it’s still a question mark with him for tomorrow. We’re going to be safe, rather than aggressive, with our approach at this point in the season.”
* Second place is a goal worth winning. Schmid still likes playing the second playoff game at home — despite losing in that configuration last season. Plus, it increases the changes of home field advantage in the new MLS Cup format.
* The Gudjohnsen itinerary remains the same: attend the Chivas game at CenturyLink, then play against the Chivas Reserves at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Starfire.
