The Sounders return to MLS play this afternoon in hot Dallas against hot Dallas.

Here’s our preview story from today’s paper. And below, some basics:

HEAD TO HEAD: Seattle leads, 3-1-3 overall and 2-0-2 at Dallas. Montero scored both goals in leading the Sounders to a 2-0 win May 9 at Dallas. The Hoops visit Seattle on Oct. 21.
NOTES: Montero has scored goals in four straight matches and has eight goals over his last seven games in all competitions. He led MLS with six goals in August. … Gspurning leads MLS in goals-against average and winning percentage (.792). Hartman is the MLS career leader in games played (410) and wins (179). … The forecast for Frisco calls for a temperature of 99 around game time. … Dallas is 5-3-6 at home. Seattle is 4-3-6 on the road. … Perez (foot) is listed as probable. … Dallas defender George John was born in Shoreline and played for UW. … Sixteen players have scored goals for the Hoops. … Dallas leads MLS with 400 fouls suffered. … If Johnson receives a caution today he will miss the Chivas game next weekend due to yellow-card accumulation. … The referee is Sorin Stoica.
