Sounders FC took a commanding lead in Group 4 of CONCACAF Champions League with a 3-1 win at Caledonia AIA tonight.
Seattle climbed to 2-0-0, Caledonia fell to 0-2-1 and idle Marathon remains as 0-0-1 at this stage of the four-game, home-and-away round robin.
A win in either of their next two games would be enough to put Seattle through to the knockout quarterfinals.
Seattle’s goals came from Alex Caskey, Sammy Ochoa and Fredy Montero.
As with the earlier game in Seattle, Caledonia’s lone score came on a penalty kick by Kareen Joseph.
Unofficial stats from Sounders: (SEA-CAL): Goals 3-1, Shots 16-16, SOG 7-2, Corners 6-8, Fouls 10-11, Off 5-4, Saves 1-2.
The Sounders return to MLS play Sunday at FC Dallas. Their next CCL match is Sept. 19 at Marathon.
