Sounders FC midfielder Osvaldo Alonso has been selected as player of the 2012 U.S. Open Cup, even though Seattle fell just short of a record fourth-straight title.

Alonso had four goals and two assists in the tournament, along with his usual defense and distribution.

Danny Barrera of Cal FC was selected Lower Division Player of the Tournament and overall runner-up behind Alonso.
