Tetteh
Sounders FC has announced the loan of second-year midfielder Michael Tetteh to NASL Fort Lauderdale.

Here’s some of what coach Sigi Schmid had to say about the move after training today:

On the loan: He needed games, and Fort Lauderdale needed a player to play on the left-hand side. They have three games to go before the playoffs, and I think if he appears in all three of those games, then he’s eligible for the playoffs for them. I think it will be good. As a player, he’s trained a lot, had a lot of injuries at the beginning of this year with his hamstring; he’s healthy now, and so this is an opportunity for him to get on the field and get some confidence and play.

(Note: Strikers actually have five regular-season games ahead.)

On whether Tetteh is running out of time in Seattle: You never know. David Estrada took two years, and then in preseason of his third year hit his stride. So you can never say never in that regard. But certainly he’s had some opportunities, hasn’t made optimum use of those yet, and now he’s just got to use the next opportunities when they come along.

Here’s the Sounders’ press release:

Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Michael Tetteh has been loaned to NASL side Ft. Lauderdale Strikers, the club announced today.

Tetteh, a second-year midfielder from UC Santa Barbara, can be re-called by Sounders FC if necessary. He has started the last two MLS Reserve League matches but is yet to make a competitive appearance for Sounders FC in 2012. Tetteh was loaned to Orlando City last season in June and July.

Seattle travels to Carson, Calif. on Saturday, August 25 to play Chivas USA.
