The Sounders will resume training today, minus All-Stars Osvaldo Alonso and Eddie Johnson, who are returning from Pennsylvania.
On their flight back to Puget Sound they may fly pretty directly over Commerce City, Colo., where the Sounders will meet the Rapids on Saturday. However, Sounders coach Sigi Schmid didn’t want the All-Stars to simply fly to Colorado because he is a believer that the best way to deal with high altitude is to get in and get out as quickly as possible. That’s why all the Sounders will train at Tukwila again tomorrow before finally flying on to Colorado.
“That’s always our plans…we get in and get out,” Schmid said. “The question was whether we take our all-stars and fly them to Colorado on Thursday or fly them home. My answer to that was, ‘They’re flying back to Seattle and flying with us on Friday.’ You always try to get in, when you go to altitude, within 24 hours of the game or right around there.”
