Here’s a preview from Sounders FC U-23:

Saturday night, the Sounders U-23 will take on their archrival Portland Timbers U-23 at Tumwater High School at 6:00 p.m. This will be the first meeting of the season between the two teams. The Sounders U-23 will have their work cut out with a first place Portland team that is a perfect 5-0 with 15 points.

Tumwater High School will offer a unique semi-central location that will enable fans supporting both sides a chance to come represent their colors. The location will also give Olympia area fans an opportunity to come out and experience the PDL.

The red-hot Portland Timbers U-23 are coming off of a 2-1 win against the Vancouver Whitecaps U-23 last Saturday in Vancouver, BC; their first away game of the season. Portland trailed 1-0 going into the half, but were able to put two goals together in short succession in the second half to come away with the win.

The Sounders U-23 are also coming off of a match with fellow Cascadia rival Vancouver. The teams met on Wednesday night at Cheney stadium in Tacoma, and battled each other to a 3-3 draw. Sounders U-23 scored two goals early in the second half to take a 3-1 lead, only to give up two goals late for the resulting draw. The draw earned the Sounders U-23 one point, pushing their season total to nine, good enough for third place in the PDL Northwest Division.

With Major League Soccer on an international break, this is a perfect chance for Cascadian fans to enjoy the future of pro soccer at Tumwater High School. Tickets are available at the gate for $10 each.
