This just in from the league:

The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Seattle Sounders FC defender Zach Scott one game and fined him an undisclosed amount for endangering the safety of FC Dallas midfielder Fabian Castillo in the 75th minute of the May 9 game.

Scott will serve his suspension this Saturday when Sounders FC host Real Salt Lake at 7 p.m. PT.

Fines collected will be donated to the charitable partners of MLS W.O.R.K.S. and the MLS Players Union.

No major loss here IMO. Scott was repeatedly beaten in this game and lacked the speed to make up for it. His aggressive challenges and attempts to hold back the attacking players to try to make up for it were not pretty.

Gotta back up Zach … His speed and effectiveness in the air (game winning goal) are very good – I like the fact that he plays tough … Good defenders miss games for this reason from time to time
    Go Sounders

I’m with EF on this – Zach plays tough and is a solid contributor – even scored his first MLS goal earlier this season.

But in light of the team still missing Zakuani more than a year later, have no problem with the league cracking down on dangerous play – even if it means a Sounder occasionally has to sit out/pay a fine.
