Sounders coach Sigi Schmid confirmed today that midfielder and captain Mauro Rosales will miss the Friday match against Houston with a sprained right knee.
“Mauro will be out for this weekend for sure,” Schmid said. “He’s got a knee sprain — not the same as last year. We’ve just got to see how he responds. So, it could be a couple of weeks, it could be a little more. We’ll have to see how it goes the next few days.”
Schmid said Roger Levesque, Christian Sivebaek or Marc Burch were candidates to take his spot in the lineup.
Mucho ouch-o.
Houston just became the favorites in Friday’s game ….
I guess given the circumstances I’d prefer to see if Siva can be a starter in MF and pass others open instead of taking off running all the time

To my eye, Sivebaek has looked dazzlingly good in training. Yet Schmid lists him as only one possible option. We’ll see.

Once again, Rosales gets hacked numerous times without fouls called until finally he is injured when players realize they can chop him down with impunity. It’s really frustrating as a fan to watch your stars get injured through the willful neglect of referees.
