Dallas beat New York, 2-1, in a pretty entertaining game and in what I thought was a pretty impressive debut of MLS on NBC Sports Network, with Arlo White handling the play-by-play.

MLS makes its debut on NBC Sports Network at noon today with Arlo White calling the action of New York at Dallas.

Yesterday in Vancouver, MLS president Mark Abbott was asked about White’s new role as a league-wide voice.

“Arlo is a tremendous broadcaster,” Abbott said. “When he came to Seattle I think he brought something very special to those broadcasts, and I think that when NBC was looking for a play-by-play person we spoke to them about Arlo, and they took a look at a number of the games that he’d done and agreed with us that he brings something special to those games. We’re very excited to have him as part of our national broadcasts now.”

By the way, here’s a page from the MLStalk website devoted entirely to MLS broadcast schedules.

I’m looking forward to hearing Arlo on the call today.

Off-topic but thought of a good nickname for our new goalie:

    Der Gspurning Man
