Soudners FC will wear its new “Super Cyan” alternate kids at CenturyLink Field for the first time in Wednesday’s CONCACAF Champions League match.

Here’s a note from the club:

Wednesday night’s match with Santos Laguna will mark the first appearance of Sounders FC in their bright blue third kit known as Super Cyan. For the last two seasons the Electricity third kit has been donned for Open Cup and international matches, and for MLS play on occasion. Some of the biggest moments in club history have occurred in the third strip, including the 2010 and 2011 U.S. Open Cup title runs and the comeback victory at Portland last July.

While the Sounders have done a remarkable job in marketing their product to the general public in Seattle, they’ve been building their base by selling the “experience” of being pseudo-Euros with the scarves, the singing, et al. The quality of the match itself is secondary…as is the overall quality of MLS itself. More power to the Sounders for understanding how to identify and sell to their target market, but I don’t feel like paying Premiership-level ticket prices to watch Championship-level football (and if you don’t understand the difference, you’re making my point for me). Caveat emptor.

@guiltybystander, what are you talking about? Sounders tickets are 2/3 if not half the price of EPL tickets.
