I’m helping out on high school basketball coverage at the Tacoma Dome today, but it looks like it turned out to be a bad day to miss Sounders training.

Beyond the signing of Andrew Weber, general manager Adrian Hanauer also had lots of interesting things to day. Here’s what I’ve been able to catch up on:

* midfielder Mauro Rosales, who signed a new contract over the off-season, will go into the books as a designed player.

* the club is nearing a decision on the status of forward O’Brian White, who missed most of last season with blood clots in his leg. White hasn’t been able to join his teammates in training this preseason, and it is unclear if or when he will be able to.

* Hanauer also confirmed the club is considering opening all seating areas of CenturyLink Field for the Cascadia Cup matches against Vancouver on Aug. 18 and Portland on Oct. 7.

The Sounders are off tomorrow. They will return to training Sunday in preparation for their CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal home match against Santos Laguna at 7 p.m. Wedneday.
